Association Roll

In 1695/6 the Act of Association was passed.  This came about because of a Jacobite plot against the life of William III.  The Act required all office holders to take a Solemn Oath of Association.  They swore to combine with others for the better preservation of his Majesty's royal person and government. In fact, most men of any standing took the oath.
